Acai: Tell me more about it!

Store fronts are popping up everywhere selling Acai bowls. The frozen section of the supermarket shelves even have them. But what is Acai?

Açaí comes from Brazil. It is the fruit of the açaí palm tree. It has granular texture and a tart and creamy taste. Acai bowls are often made by adding granola, fruit and sometime even Nutella to create a mouth watering meal. Acai berries have been know to improve digestion, brain health, and even your complexion. 

The possibilities are endless when it comes to creating an acai bowl. Below is an example of one of my favorite recipes just to get you started 


Ingredients

  • 1 cup acai berry sorbet
  • 2 tablespoons granola, or as desired
  • 4 strawberries, sliced 
  • 1 banana, sliced 
  • 2 teaspoons unsweetened coconut flakes, or as desired
  • 1 teaspoon honey, or as desired

    Place acai sorbet into a bowl and top with a layer of granola. Line strawberry and banana slices over granola. Sprinkle with coconut flakes and drizzle with honey.
