My inbox and social media feeds have been flooded recently with all sorts of food and nutrition messages….I wonder why? LOL! Occupational hazard as I like to say! Too many opinions (in my opinion!) can lead to mass confusion, so I thought I might take the opportunity to try and simplify things….just a little of course-and highlight a few of my personal thoughts on how to lead a balanced life-both as a professional in the field as well as someone who is (also!) doing to the juggle! So here I go….
1. Try to move your body most days of the week-i know this is vague, and does not include tracking steps or closing rings (yes, I might be the only person left who does not have an Apple Watch), but that is part of the point. Some days you might go for a walk and play some tennis, while other days a restorative yoga class is what is craved
2. Aim to eat a balanced diet-i know, again not specific. But think about trying to include protein at most meals, vegetables at lunch and/or dinner and fruits at breakfast and snack time. Think about what foods you might want to add to your diet rather than thinking about what to eliminate. Remember the word diet means what you eat (not weight loss!)
3. Think about going to sleep about the same time each night and work towards 8 hours
4. Do something for yourself each day-this could be a yoga class, meeting friends, or engaging in a hobby to name a few
5. And, finally, If your relationship with food or movement has interfered with the quality of your life, consider working to improve it
